What do you really know about sharks?
Biomimicry is the act of imitating nature. Bio = life, mimicry = act of imitating. For many generations, humans have looked to nature for ingenuity and inspiration. Ready to try some activities at home? Here’s a great way to get your STEM juices flowing and making your learning visible:
Go outside to a natural or green space (not man-made such as a playground) and spend time observing what’s happening. Bring a journal with you. Try to find something you’ve never noticed before. What do you notice about the animal you see, the plants in the area, or maybe the bigger picture of the whole area you’re looking at? What do you wonder about what you are observing? Does it make you think of or remind you of anything else? Take notes or draw what you are observing. You could also write a poem or story.
